About Me

I am a 24-year-old International event rider from Rutland.

I started riding when I was two years old. At four I was keen to follow in my Father's footsteps and took to the hunting field, steadfastly refusing to be on a leading rein! I started my Pony Club career the same year with regular selection in the annual Pony Club teams.

My first major competition was the Sansaw Pony Club Eventing Championships in 2004, followed by the JRN Championships the following year.

At 14, I was runner-up in the National Schools Hurdles Championships, going on to be Champion for the next two years. Athletics could have been a career path but my passion for eventing always drew me back to my horses.

At Uppingham School I obtained 10 A and B grade GCSEs and three AS Levels, before deciding to concentrate on my riding full-time.

A major break for me, was my introduction to Chris White, who has trained me ever since. It became clear to me that Chris's desire for every horse to reach its full potential matched my own goals. Chris has the ability to move horse and rider on to new levels without me realising and has coped admirably with my continual questioning and lengthy debates, in my desire to understand.

With Chris's help I have been able to progress from Novice to representing and competing for Great Britain at the Junior European Championships, and then on to CCI**** level, all within six years or so. He has also moved my dressage skills on to much higher levels than eventing will ever require, including teaching me Grand Prix movements as an important part of my all-round training.

I was very pleased to pass my HGV test last year, at the age of 19. I think my ability to focus and ride a line cross-country helped me get through my test in the appalling snowy conditions in Leicester on the day! I am extremely proud that this year I passed my Pony Club A Test with Honours, the only person in the UK to do so.

If the next six years of my career are as progressive as the last six then anything, with a bit of luck thrown in, is possible. I shall keep you updated!
